Randall Purtell, CFO

As founder and owner of Purtell CFO, Randall Purtell had the vision of creating a business model that allowed small and medium-sized businesses to customize their finance and accounting operations to company needs. He acted on that vision, relying on his 30-plus years of experience in accounting to provide the foundation for a better way of providing financial services.

Mr. Purtell is a native Houstonian and graduate of the University of Houston. He began his professional career with an international accounting firm but soon succumbed to his entrepreneurial spirit. In 1983, he co-founded a public accounting firm in Tyler, Texas. Upon his return to Houston in 1989 to accept a job as project manager for a major consulting firm, Mr. Purtell began studying Spanish rigorously in the evenings. In this pre-NAFTA/CAFTA era, he had the foresight to know American businesses would soon look to broaden their horizons south of the border.

Since then, Mr. Purtell has gained experience managing financial operations for major corporations throughout Latin America and Asia. He has held senior management positions in those regions, successfully navigating tough financial issues in often challenging political and economic climates. In 2005, he came home to Houston once again, this time dedicating himself to his own consulting practice that would serve as the springboard for Purtell CFO.

If you ask Randall Purtell why he has chosen at this point in his career to offer his expertise to small and medium-sized businesses, rather than focus on large corporations, he would probably tell you that corporate environments just aren’t his style. His down-to-earth demeanor and sincere desire to help his clients simply don’t mesh well with corporate politics.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, with proficiency in Portuguese, Mr. Purtell concentrates his efforts on businesses throughout North America, Central and South America.
